Grade 8 INDEPENDENT READING ASSIGNMENT: Literature
                For your independent reading assignment you must choose two books from the list handed out in class on the green or gold sheet.  The reading assignment is to read each night for at least 30 minutes without interruption.  Keep a reading log for several chapters at a time.

PROJECT: DESIGN A PHOTO ESSAY:
                Compile a photographic representation of the main characters and a few major scenes from the book.  Clip old magazine photographs of people and places that could represent some of the scenes, settings, or characters in the book.  Mount your photos on colored paper.  Label each photo with quotations from the work that describes the person, place or thing depicted.

Your assignment is to click Showdown Series, select 1 player, Social Studies, Select question sets—Grade 8 World War I and World War II.  Play the trivia games and have fun.  Your scores will be recorded.  I will be able to check your performance on the question sets.

2. Prepare a two page biography report on Harry S. Truman.  Include information on his early life, political life, role as Vice President, role as President, Truman Doctrine, Manhattan Project, and his life after presidency.
